(Some) Favorite Paris Really Must-Do’s

The Musée d’Orsay, again and again,
A good book in the gardens of the Musée Rodin.

Celebrity hunting at the Père Lachaise,
The Buttes-Chaumont to cure malaise.

Hunting Arago medallions in the Parc Montsouris,
Berthillon ice-cream on the Pont St. Louis.

The Saint Chapelle on a sunny day,
The Notre-Dame garden, while the kids play.

Sailing boats in the pond of the
Tuileries,
The Eiffel Tower, any time you may please.

  2. Yes, I love the Louvre, too, but as the Parisians say, 'you could visit the Louvre everyday for 30 years and still not exhaust the exhibits'. For the visitor to Paris, I feel the Musee d'Orsay is the better choice, if there's a choice to be made. The collection is so accessible and the setting... well, it's just stunning!

  3. Enjoyed this. Reminiscing over things I've enjoyed in the past and finding out about a few new ones.

I'd have to cast my vote for the Louvre, though, for architecture and setting.

  4. Ahh! One of my favorite aspects of the Louvre is its architecture and setting. My book-in-progress includes a whole chapter just on the history of the architecture of the Louvre.

I was lucky one year to be able to visit the Museum every week. We studied a different painting, artist, or architectural element each time. And with my pass, I just breezed past the long queues.

But for the visitor here with limited time, it can be a big commitment. That's why I tend to recommend them to the smaller, more intimate museums.

I just re-visited the Orangerie with the Uber-Mensch and Lucky-one-and-only on Saturday. Awesome. Just Awesome. Both the Monets and the downstairs collection. It will definitely be added to my next Paris Must-do's post.

    Thanks for your comment!
